Ras Al Khaimah Specialty Hospital Epoxy Floor
Install a hygienic, seamless epoxy floor across 4,200 m² of a RAK specialty hospital including operating theatres, sterilisation departments, ICUs and isolation rooms. The system had to meet MoHAP infection-control standards, withstand daily chemical disinfection, and be installed without disrupting the adjacent emergency department.
The Challenge
Install a hygienic, seamless epoxy floor across 4,200 m² of a RAK specialty hospital including operating theatres, sterilisation departments, ICUs and isolation rooms. The system had to meet MoHAP infection-control standards, withstand daily chemical disinfection, and be installed without disrupting the adjacent emergency department.
Our Solution
Specified a 3 mm self-levelling epoxy with novolac topcoat in sterilisation and soiled-utility zones, antimicrobial additive throughout, and 100 mm coved skirting for hygiene. Work was phased over 3 weekend shutdowns with ED access maintained via an alternate corridor route.
Execution
Tested slab moisture, shot-blasted to CSP-4, primed and applied 3 mm self-levelling epoxy in operating theatres, sterilisation and ICU zones. Novolac topcoat was applied to 1,400 m² of sterilisation/soiled-utility zones, with polyurethane topcoat elsewhere. Coved skirting was hand-applied throughout.
