Riyadh King Khalid International Airport Apron Marking
Re-mark 22 contact and remote stands at Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH) to ICAO Annex 14 standards within night-shift NOTAM windows of 4 hours each, with jet-blast resistance and high wet-reflectivity. The apron had to remain fully operational for daytime widebody operations including A380 and B777.
The Challenge
Re-mark 22 contact and remote stands at Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH) to ICAO Annex 14 standards within night-shift NOTAM windows of 4 hours each, with jet-blast resistance and high wet-reflectivity. The apron had to remain fully operational for daytime widebody operations including A380 and B777.
Our Solution
Specified Type III MMA cold plastic with Type II glass beads across all stand centrelines, lead-on lines, stop bars and stand numbering. MMA was selected for its 30-minute cure at 25Β°C ambient, allowing each stand to reopen within the NOTAM window, plus jet-blast resistance rated to 260Β°C.
Execution
Airside crews surveyed to Annex 14 geometry, water-blasted and dried each stand, then extruded MMA at night. Stand numbers were applied using preformed MMA cut to specification. A total of 22 stands were marked over 32 night-shift NOTAM windows, with reflectivity tested to Q3 (β₯300 mcd/mΒ²/lx) on every stand.
